sign-on-nintendo-company-hqWe’re sure by now many gamers probably know about Nintendo’s history. For those who don’t, Nintendo was originally started as a playing cards company which eventually over time evolved to become the gaming company we know today. This isn’t surprising as all companies need to evolve and adapt to new trends over time.

This is why we can’t say we’re shocked to learn that Nintendo has announced that they will be restructuring the company. The restructuring was noticed in Nintendo’s Articles of Incorporation, which is basically a binding document which states the purpose and mission of the company, and the recent changes revealed that Nintendo will be exploring medical devices and computer software.

Now before you get too worried, don’t worry as the Nintendo we know is still there, it’s just that the company as a whole will be exploring other areas of business in addition to their video games and consoles. This is actually not the first time we’ve heard Nintendo express interest in the health sector.

The company had what they called a “Quality of Life” initiative back in the day, but earlier this year it was announced that it had been put on hold. We have also seen Nintendo patent health/medical-related devices like a sleep monitor. We’re not sure what this change will mean for the company, but it looks like it will simply be exploratory for now.
