Nintendo has announced that three classic Game Boy titles will join the Nintendo Switch Online library next week, supplementing the Game Boy Advance games released earlier in the month. This upcoming selection focuses on cult classics that combine creative puzzles, retro action, and arcade nostalgia, including a project spearheaded by legendary designer Shigeru Miyamoto.

The curated lineup features lesser-known releases whose gameplay mechanics remain engaging today. The three games arriving on the platform are:

  • Avenging Spirit (1992): An action-platformer where players control the ghost of a murdered man. Its standout mechanic involves possessing various enemies to absorb their bodies, weapons, and abilities in order to rescue the protagonist’s kidnapped girlfriend.
  • Mole Mania (1996): Produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, this puzzle game stars Muddy Mole and requires strategic thinking. Players must dig through dirt and switch between surface and underground views to solve intricate puzzles and rescue his family from a cruel farmer.
  • Pinball: Revenge of the Gator (1989): Developed by HAL Laboratory—the studio behind Kirby—this title delivers an entertaining multi-screen pinball table where the primary goal is maximizing scores while preventing the ball from falling into the jaws of hungry alligators.

To improve the experience for modern gamers, the built-in Nintendo Switch application includes convenient features like save states, allowing users to save their progress at any point during gameplay.

These nostalgic titles will be accessible through the Game Boy application on both the standard Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2 hardware starting on October 27.

Subscribers to the standard Nintendo Switch Online membership can access these games at no additional cost, as they do not require the higher-tier Expansion Pack. This monthly update continues Nintendo’s tradition of preserving gaming history while making retro libraries accessible to contemporary audiences on current hardware platforms.
