pokemonAre you looking forward to a Nintendo-made movie? If you are, the bad news that you might have to wait 2-3 years to see it, but the good news is that Nintendo is at the very least open to the idea. This is according to a report from Asahi Shimbun as translated by Kyle McLain in which Nintendo’s CEO Tatsumi Kimishima revealed a rough timeline the company had in mind.

According to Kimishima, he expressed how he would like to see the company release its first movie in the next 2-3 years. However this isn’t necessary confirmation that there is a movie in the works, but that they are actively looking into making one. He also adds that the company is looking into a production system where Nintendo will attempt to have as much control over the movie’s production as possible.

Now this isn’t the first time that Nintendo has expressed their interest in movies. Last year the company revealed that they are open to the idea, in which according to Shigeru Miyamoto, “As we look more broadly at what is Nintendo’s role as an entertainment company, we’re starting to think more and more about how movies can fit in with that—and we’ll potentially be looking at things like movies in the future.”

There have also been recent rumors that there are talks about a possible live-action movie based around the Pokemon franchise, but whether or not this could be the movie Nintendo is eyeing remains to be seen. In the meantime, which of Nintendo’s franchises would you like to see made into a movie?
