We have seen wearables, trackers, straps, shoes, and so on, all of which are designed to help improve your ability to play a certain sport. We’ve also seen how some companies have actually turned sporting equipment, like basketballs, into hi-tech gadgets, which is why it isn’t surprising to see Samsung try their hand at it as well.

The company has recently taken the wraps off the Samsung Galaxy Surfboard, which as its name implies, is a surfboard that has been given a hi-tech makeover. The project was made in collaboration with Leo Burnett and Johnny Cabianca and will see the installation of a LED screen inside of the surfboard itself.

What’s the screen for, you ask? Basically it will display information like wave conditions, direction of the wind, wind speeds, and so on. It will also be able to display tweets from fans to give surfers that added boost of motivation, as well as tips from their coach. We suppose there is an argument to be made about it being potentially distracting, but since we doubt that this is something Samsung will actually be selling, we guess you don’t have to worry about it.

In the meantime you can get an idea of how the Galaxy Surfboard will be like in action in the video above.
