mi_bunny_smartwatch_pink_blueGiven how much smartwatches cost and the features that they offer, it doesn’t really make sense for smartwatches to be given to kids, right? However if you’d like to give your child the technological edge over other children at school, Xiaomi might have a smartwatch you could be interested in.

The company has recently taken the wraps off a smartwatch that has been designed specifically for kids in mind. Dubbed the Xiaomi Mi Bunny, this is a smartwatch that is meant to appeal to children and will come with features that we know parents will appreciate, such as GPS, Glonass, and an embedded SIM, all of which will help parents keep track and communicate with their child.

The smartwatch and its accompanying app will also let parents create a geofence of areas that they deem to be “safe”, meaning that you can mark your home and your kid’s school as safe areas and should they wander out of those safe zones, you will be sent a notification informing you of it just in case anything were to go wrong.

There is also a built-in SOS button that sends distress signals to parents. Apart from that, the Mi Bunny is your typical smartwatch and will come with the ability to track daily activities, monitor sleep, and so on. No word on whether it will be launched stateside, but for now it is available in China where it is priced at CNY 299.
