htc-nexus-marlin-800x1228Earlier this month, the folks at Android Police cooked up some renderings of the upcoming HTC Marlin and Sailfish smartphones. The rendering we saw back then was basically a recreation based on the information they were told, but now a new photo obtained by TechDroider shows the HTC ‘Marlin’ in the flesh.

Unfortunately based on this photo, it’s a bit hard to tell how the phone looks like. However the “proof” is in its status screen which shows the handset sporting the “Marlin” codename, but other than that there’s really not much to go on. It also appears to be running on Android “N”, which we guess shouldn’t really be a surprise.

There are some discrepancies from this photo and the render. For starters, at least as far as the lighting is concerned, the bezels around this photo seem different from the renders. Also the back, home, and multitasking buttons are of a different design from the renders, which showed them sporting a solid shape instead of a hollowed out one in the photo.

According to TechDroider, they say that the phone has a fingerprint sensor on the back, which we guess is in line with the previous image, but since there’s no photo to confirm it, we guess it’s probably best you take it with a grain of salt for now.
