It has been nearly two years since season 3 of BBC’s Sherlock left us on the edge of our seats with a million questions in our minds. The BBC certainly likes to take its time in producing new seasons of Sherlock which happen to be only three episodes long and fans have certainly waited for a very long time for the fourth season. During a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con today, a teaser trailer for Sherlock season 4 was released.

Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Sherlock in this TV show, was joined by series creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss on the panel. They revealed the filming on the fourth season is almost finished and that all of the characters have gone through a “real evolution.”

The trailer was shown during the panel and it only deepens the mystery for the viewers because it obviously doesn’t provide any clarity on whether or not Moriarty is really dead or if he just set up a trick to continue to annoy Sherlock.

Gatiss did mention during the panel that the fourth season isn’t entirely filled with drama and that they would never completely cut the humor out of the show, which is a good thing, as it fits it very nicely.

An air date for the new season was not confirmed but it’s known that Sherlock season 4 is going to return at some point next year.
