Instagram has been adding some new features like a Stories mode that looks as if it was taken right out of Snapchat and the ability to finally zoom in on photos. Today, it’s taking away a feature that has been present in the apps for a very long time. Instagram Photo Map, the feature that lets people see where in the world a user’s Instagram posts came from, has now been removed.

Instagram confirms that it gradually starting removing the Photo Map feature for users across the globe about a week ago. If you can access Photo Map right now know that it’s only a matter of time before the feature is taken away.

However, Instagram is not doing away with location information entirely, so it will be possible for users to keep track of the locations from where they posted to the photo sharing service.

The Facebook-owned company is straightforward in explaining the reason why it’s removing the Photo Map feature. The reason is that this feature “was not widely used,” so it no longer makes sense for Instagram to keep it around.

Instagram says it has decided to remove this feature and “focus on other priorities.” As previously mentioned, users will still be able to see location tags on individual posts.
