Samsung just can’t seem to free itself of the streak of bad press it has had to endure for the past couple of months. It’s still reeling from the Galaxy Note 7 recall which it was forced to announce because the flagship wouldn’t stop catching fire. Similar reports concerning the Galaxy S7 edge have come in as well but not as frequently. The latest report of a Galaxy S7 edge catching fire has come in from Canada but it’s unclear right now what caused this incident.

The owner of this handset, Elisha Loewen, said that the Galaxy S7 edge was sitting idle in the car’s dashboard when it started smoking. He was just able to pick up the host device for long enough to chuck it out the window and then used the snow outside to put out the fire.

Loewen added that his carrier Bell refused to deal with the device and told him to get in touch with Samsung directly. He did reach out to Samsung but has reportedly not heard back from the company as yet. Loewen did post pictures of the burned handset online, it’s quite similar to the charred Note 7 units we’ve all seen so often over the past month.

It merits mentioning here though that there haven’t been as many incidents with the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge as there were with Galaxy Note 7 so it can’t really be said if the two handsets share the same problem. Only a proper investigation is going to reveal the real cause behind this incident.
