In 2016 Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 7, but unfortunately due to battery issues, there were widespread reports of the phone exploding and catching on fire, leading to Samsung recalling all models. The company then decided to fix the issue and re-release the handset as the “Fan Edition”.
We’re sure many are wondering what Samsung plans to do with the millions of Galaxy Note 7 handsets that were recalled. We’ve seen Samsung relaunch the phone as the Note 7 Fan Edition which is basically a refurbished version of the handset minus the faulty battery, but given that its availability is limited to the South Korean market, what about the rest of the phones?
As you might have heard, over in Korea Samsung has launched the Galaxy Note 7 Fan Edition. For those who are unfamiliar, basically these are refurbished Note 7 handsets that have the batteries swapped out for newer (and presumably safer) ones, which the folks at iFixit have pretty much confirmed in their teardown.
The Galaxy Note FE is the refurbished variant of the Galaxy Note 7 that Samsung promised several months back. The company decided to offer this device in a bid to reduce the environmental fallout from the demise of last year’s flagship phablet. Samsung released the Galaxy Note FE in South Korea on July 7th. According to a new report, the handset may be made available in other markets soon.

So it has been confirmed that Samsung will be re-releasing the Galaxy Note 7 handset sans the exploding batteries, and a report from The Wall Street Journal has apparently confirmed what it will be called and when it will be released, which assuming they are correct is currently set for a release on the 7th of July.
