nes-classicBack in July, Nintendo unveiled the NES Class. This is basically a console with games installed on it that is meant to allow gamers to relive certain classic titles. It’s a great idea, especially for gamers who grew up playing the game, or if they’re looking to introduce classics to their kids.

However could Nintendo have more similar consoles in the works? According to the folks at destructoid, they speculate that maybe there could. In the image to the right, it shows the carrying case that is designed for the NES Classic by RDS industries, and according to the label on the case (pictured above), it says “Classics”, plural.

If all Nintendo had was the NES Classic, it should just say “Classic”, as in singular, right? Now there could be multiple reasons behind this. It could be a simple typo, although given how big it is it would be weird that this managed to slip past the QA department. It could also refer to “Classics” as in classic games. Another possibility is that it’s just a name and there could be nothing more to it.

Last but not least, maybe Classics could be referring to the Mini-Famicom that is basically the Japanese equivalent of the NES Classic. In any case we guess if Nintendo does have more versions in the works, they might be waiting to see how well the NES Classic does before deciding if they want to move forward with it. In any case the console is set for a release on the 11th of November, so keep an eye out for its release if you’re interested.
