instagram-ssAs some of you guys might have heard, Instagram rolled out a new feature for the app in the form of disappearing messages, which basically is another feature that they have lifted from Snapchat. In case you’re unfamiliar, the idea is that these are messages that will disappear after a period of time, making it ideal if you’re sending messages that you’d rather not have a copy of.

However some of your friends or contacts might not feel the same way and might want to save them. Rather than you finding out when they’ve uploaded the screenshot of your messages on social media, it seems that Instagram will know when someone tries to take a screenshot of your DM and will notify you when that happens.

Note that this only applies to the disappearing messages feature, meaning that taking screenshots of photos or regular DMs won’t trigger the notification. We suppose this is a neat feature to have, although it seems that Instagram can’t really do anything about users taking screenshots, so the next best thing would be to warn users about it, although blocking users from grabbing a screenshot of a supposed private message would be much preferred, but what do you guys think?
