Facebook’s posts have evolved over the years where you can attach all sorts of things to it. However if there was one thing that it never had was formatting, which means that beyond posting text, you couldn’t change the font size, color, font type, and so on, but that has changed somewhat.

It seems that Facebook for Android is rolling out an update that allows users to add color to their status updates. As you can see in the screenshot above, users can now add a background color to their posts if they want it to get more attention. However this seems to be only Android for now, so iOS and web users will have to wait to get their turn.

There are various option to choose from ranging from solid colors to gradients. However note that this only works for pure text posts, so if you’re trying to share links or images or videos, then it won’t work. It sounds like an interesting feature and seems pretty fun as well, so don’t be surprised if you start seeing a ton of colorful posts in your feed in the future.

As for iOS and web users, there is no set date on when the feature will be released, but Facebook did say that it should arrive in the “coming months”, so do keep an eye out for it if this sort of thing is of interest to you.
