Fast-forwarding or rewinding in videos on YouTube isn’t a problem if you are watching on your computer. However on your phone, this might be a different story especially when the seek bar is so thin and tiny where trying to scrub your way through longer videos might not be as accurate as it could be.

The good news is that it looks like that will soon change as YouTube appears to be testing out new seek methods. As spotted by @YTSecurity and reported by Android Police, the latest YouTube app for Android has the feature hidden and can be temporarily enabled for testing if you are so inclined.

Basically these new features allow users to double tap on the right of their screen to skip forward 10 seconds, and double tap on the left to go back 10 seconds. This means that sometimes jumping to certain sections of the video might not be possible, but if you’re looking for a way to easy skip ahead or rewind a few seconds, this could be it.

Note that this appears in YouTube v11.47.55, so you will need to have it installed if you want to try it out. To enable the feature, Android Police says you’ll need to go to “Apps –> YouTube –> Storage and press the ‘Clear Data’ button, then press OK”. After that you should be good to go.
