Microsoft’s digital personal assistant Cortana may have started out on its Windows Phone platform but the assistant has since been expanded to the company’s other devices like PCs and gaming consoles. Microsoft is also working with third-party manufacturers to bake Cortana into their products. It’s now making it much easier for Android users to take advantage of its assistant by bringing Cortana to the Android lock screen.

Microsoft has been paying attention to Cortana on Android. It recently released a brand new user interface for Cortana on Google’s mobile platform and according to a new report, the company has been testing a new way to access Cortana from an Android device’s lock screen.

Cortana on Android lock screen will need only a swipe to jump into action. This will enable users to quickly access the digital personal assistant. It’s evident that this method has been developed to get users to choose Cortana over Google’s own quick access.

The report does add that Cortana on the lock screen does not replace the conventional lock screens so users will be able to use the stock lock screen or a custom one. It can easily be activated by swiping left or right on the floating logo.

Microsoft is said to be testing this feature in beta right now. Android users who want to take it for a spin can opt-in to test out the new beta before this feature is released to the public.
