In case you didn’t know, there is a Metal Gear Solid movie in the works. Now we know that video game adaptations have never really turned out well, so forgive us if we’re a bit skeptical about how this particular movie will turn out as well. However the good news is that it looks like its director plans to keep it true to the series.

Speaking to Collider in an interview, the movie’s director Jordan Vogt-Roberts was quoted as saying, “I think it’d be a massive film, I think it’d be an incredible film, but it needs to be done in a way that completely honors what Metal Gear is because it’s a classic and it’s a seminal work not just in video games, but in media.”

Vogt-Roberts also talks about how he grew up with the franchise, which is why he believes that he needs to “honor” it by making sure it stays true to its roots. “Luckily there are amazing producers on it, but that’s a property that is so pure and important to my soul, because it’s something that I grew up on, that I would love to shepherd into the film that it needs to be.”

Unfortunately there is still no timeline as to what the Metal Gear Solid movie will be released, but hopefully the time in between will help the movie’s producers and writers create a movie that will honor the franchise.
