If there is one area of hardware that amateur/beginner photographers tend to overlook it would be the storage on cameras. This is because sometimes the higher-end SD cards tend to be more expensive, and some beginner photographers might not necessarily see the need to pay so much, especially after potentially forking out thousands for the camera body and lens.

However not all SD cards were created equal and if you’re looking for an SD card with fast read and write speeds, you might be interested to learn that Sony has announced their new SF-G series of SDXC UHS-II SD cards. These cards come in 3 different storage sizes – 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB, and they will all boast the same read/write speeds, which is at 300MB/s and 299MB/s respectively, or so Sony claims.

What this means is that you’ll be able to take advantage of these speeds to capture hi-res images and videos and not worry about your camera taking too long to write them onto the memory. This is especially useful if you’re into action/sports photography and take quite a lot of burst shots.

In addition to their fast read/write speeds, the SF-G cards from Sony are also waterproof, shockproof, temperature resistant, and also X-Ray proof. Unfortunately pricing and availability f the new SD cards have not yet been revealed.
