When text messages first came about, they were pretty much sent as individual messages meaning that you’d have to reopen older messages if you’re trying to get an idea of the context of the conversation. However these days messages are more conversational in terms of their design.

This is something that Facebook recognizes and it is also one of the things that they plan to make changes to with regards to its comments section on its website. In a report from BuzzFeed News, it seems that Facebook is testing out a major design change that they’re making to comments on its network, as you can see in the screenshots above where it is clearly done in a more conversational style.

This resembles Messenger’s style of chat versus the traditional comments layout. Facebook has confirmed that this is something they’re testing in a statement provided to BuzzFeed News by a Facebook spokesperson. “We are always working to make Facebook a more visual and engaging place to have conversations. So we’re testing multiple design updates in News Feed, including a more conversational way to comment on posts.”

It is unclear if these changes will become permanent and rolled out to existing users, or if this is something that they’re testing and might decide not to go with it, so we’ll just have to wait and see. In the meantime how do you guys feel about these conversational comments? Do you think it’ll make posts more engaging?
