With handset makers starting to drop the headphone jacks from their devices, there is an increasing need for wireless headphones. If you’re in the market for such a device, you might be interested to learn that the folks at Beyerdynamic have unveiled a new pair of wireless phones in the form of the Xelento Wireless.

If you’re wondering why the name sounds so familiar, it is because the Xelento in-ear headphones are the company’s top-of-the-line offering. The wireless version as its name suggests is basically the same model except that it relies on Bluetooth connectivity to pair with smartphones, tablets, computers, and so on.

However instead of going fully wireless, Beyerdynamic has actually included a port in which users can connect a 3.5mm cable should the battery die, thus giving users more options as to whether or not they want a wired or wireless connection. There are some audiophiles who believe that wired offers better sound quality, so like we said the option is there.

In terms of battery life, the Xelento Wireless is said to last for about five and a half hours on a single charge. The headphones also do not come cheap with a price tag of $1,199, a $200 premium over the wired version.
