Apple’s iPhone 8 is rumored to sport a ton of improvements and new features, which we guess is normal and to be expected from a new handset. However thanks to a report from JPMorgan analysts, some additional details have surfaced which revealed that the upcoming handset from Apple could be sporting an “enhanced earpiece”.

So what is that? Basically if you thought that Apple’s iPhone’s earpiece could be improved upon, then the iPhone 8 could be fixing that problem. It is said to offer up improvements to stereo sound and will also feature better waterproofing. Apple started to offer water-resistance with its smartphones with the iPhone 7, and the iPhone 8 is expected to improve on that with the earpiece area.

As it stands the iPhone 7’s earpiece can also double up as a secondary speaker for the handset thus offering up stereo sound, so presumably the enhancement will focus on that too. Perhaps we’re looking at louder volumes, better sound quality, or something else entirely, but at the moment it is unclear as the report from JPMorgan did not mention any specifics.

However what’s interesting about this particular report is that it suggested that Apple could actually bundle AirPods with the handset. Now Apple typically bundles earphones with its iPhones, but for the company to bundle the AirPods does seem like a stretch, especially since money could be made by selling them. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we’ll have the official details in the near future.
