When it comes to music, there are different types of music listeners out there. There are some who prefer listening to what they know, and there are some who love discovering new tunes, new bands, new artists, new genres, and so on. If you fancy yourself to be in the latter category, SoundCloud might have something for you.

Music discovery tools aren’t new for music streaming platforms, and SoundCloud’s latest effort dubbed “The Upload” seems to want to compete with Spotify’s Discover Weekly as well as Apple Music’s personalized playlists. How it works is that it will try to ascertain what kind of music the listener likes based on what they’re interested in, and will recommend new content that is recently uploaded to SoundCloud within the last few days.

The difference in this feature is that it tries to recommend the latest songs and uploads, meaning that instead of going through its catalog and pulling songs that are older, it will recommend hot and fresh tunes instead. Of course just because a song is old doesn’t make it bad, but if you’re the type that likes to stay ahead of the trend this this might be a nifty feature.

The Upload feature will be applicable across all of SoundCloud’s platforms which includes iOS, Android, and the web, so check it out if you want to find yourself some new songs to listen to.
