It’s not that Spotify makes it terribly hard to share that cool new track that you discovered with friends and family. You can easily send a link to someone and they can stream that song on Spotify, provided that they’re a member. Spotify has come up with a new feature that further simplifies the act of sharing music. The feature is called Spotify Codes.

Using the new feature is easy. When you come across a track, album, artist or playlist on Spotify that you want to share, tap on the ellipsis next to it and tap on the image with the code.

This will enlarge the code and from there it can either be shared over social media or simply scanned off your phone by a friend. When your friend scans the code off of your device, the track will instantly start playing in the Spotify app on their device, hence eliminating the need to fiddle around in order to get to that track.

This feature is going to have a considerable impact on upcoming musicians who have songs on Spotify. They can place these codes on promotional materials to quickly direct people to their songs on the music streaming service.

Spotify is only offering the Spotify Codes feature to mobile users only so it’s not possible to use it via a desktop. Many will certainly appreciate if the company enables this feature for desktop users as well.
