Those who own an unlocked LG G5 in the United States will be happy to find out today that the much awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update is finally being released for this handset. It has been a while since this update was released for the unlocked variant in other parts of the world but users in the U.S. have been made to wait. Their wait ends today as LG has finally released Android 7.0 Nougat for the unlocked model in the united States.
As previously mentioned, it has taken LG a very long time to release said update for the unlocked variant. Sprint was the first to release Nougat for the LG G5 on its network in November last year. It was soon followed by T-Mobile, Verizon, and then AT&T.
The unlocked LG G5 model number RS988 is now receiving an over-the-air update in the United States which bumps up the core Android operating system to version 7.0 Nougat. The update predictably weighs in at 1.3GB as it’s a major release which brings a handful of new features for the device.
All of the features that come part and parcel of Android 7.0 Nougat are included in this update, such as the improved notifications experience, enhanced Doze mode, and the plethora of visual interface tweaks. This release also includes the April security patch.
