Nikon’s Next Mirrorless Will Be A Full-Frame Camera

It’s safe to say that Nikon’s mirrorless efforts haven’t really paid off much for the company, unlike Sony or Fujifilm, but it seems that Nikon isn’t quite done yet. In a recent interview with Chinese publication Xitek (via Nikon Rumors), it seems that Nikon’s next mirrorless could make a huge splash as it will be of the full-frame variety.

As it stands it seems that only Sony has full-frame mirrorless cameras, but Nikon will apparently not be resting on their laurels. During the interview, they spoke to Nikon’s R&D manager Tetsuro Goto who said that any future Nikon mirrorless camera will be of the full-frame variety.

Nikon had previously hinted that they had a new mirrorless camera in the works that was “serious”, so it stands to believe that it could be full-frame as well. This is actually not the first time that Nikon hinted at full-frame mirrorless cameras, although when exactly this camera will be released remains to be seen, but it’s definitely something to look forward to given Nikon’s experience and reputation when it comes to cameras.

That being said, Nikon rival Canon is also said to be working on a full-frame mirrorless camera as well that could debut in 2018, so it remains to be seen who might get to the market first.
