Microsoft didn’t really confirm when it’s going to release the LTE Surface Pro. As one can imagine, there are a lot of customers that are waiting for the LTE-enabled version of this device to arrive. It was recently reported that the LTE Surface Pro release will finally take place on December 1st. According to a new report, that might not happen now before 2018.

The Surface Pro was unveiled by Microsoft earlier this year at its hardware event in Shanghai. The company did say at that time that a cellular variant of the Surface Pro would be released in the future, though it didn’t specify when the LTE Surface Pro release would take place.

Microsoft has quietly updated the FAQ section of its online store listing for the Surface Pro. The updated section mentions that the LTE Surface Pro 4 release won’t take place until spring 2018.

The company did have a working version of the LTE Surface Pro at its Ignite 2017 conference last month. Lots of people got to see it, hence the impression that the LTE-enabled variant of this device was ready for release.

Microsoft hasn’t provided a reason for this delay. The vague release time frame isn’t going to make the wait any easier for those who have been thinking about getting a Surface Pro with cellular connectivity. Looks like they’ll have to keep waiting for a couple of months now.
