When Windows 10 was first announced, Microsoft announced that the operating system would be a free update for Windows users if they were to upgrade within the first year, after which users would be charged if they wanted to upgrade. The offer officially came to an end on the 29th of July, 2016, but there was a loophole that allowed users an extended period to consider.

This came in the form of the assistive technologies feature, where users who used it would get an automatic extension of the free upgrade. However it looks like if you still did not take advantage of the upgrade offer, do take note that Windows 10’s free upgrade offer will now officially expire on the 31st of December, 2017.

This is according to Microsoft’s website where the company has officially dated the end of the free offer. It reads, “If you use assistive technologies, you can upgrade to Windows 10 at no cost as Microsoft continues our efforts to improve the Windows 10 experience for people who use these technologies. Please take advantage of this offer before it expires on December 31, 2017.”

Microsoft had previously noted that this was not meant for users to extend the free offer’s timeframe, but in any case if you did take advantage of this and have yet to upgrade to Windows 10, then you will have less than two months to decide whether or not to make the upgrade while it is still free.
