The Mobile World Congress takes place in Barcelona annually and it’s where many companies launch their new flagship smartphones. Samsung has used this stage multiple times in the past to launch handsets and it’s returning to Barcelona for the Galaxy S9. However, it seems that Huawei has decided to not launch its upcoming flagship, the Huawei P20, at MWC 2018.

A new report out of South Korea suggests that the Huawei P20 is not going to be unveiled at MWC 2018. The company is expected to conduct a separate launch event for the handset in either late March or early April.

This, following reports that LG has decided not to unveil the LG G7 at the MWC 2018. It may not be looking to avoid the clash for attention with the Galaxy S9. A recent report suggested that LG’s CEO has told the G7 team to go back to the drawing board and work on the device from scratch.

It remains to be seen if Sony is going to come out with a new flagship device at the event next month in Barcelona. There have been reports that Sony has a new flagship in the pipeline.

If this is really the case, then it seems that the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ will be the center of attention at MWC 2018 as far as flagship smartphones are concerned. Samsung is certainly going to like that.
