Facebook often tests new methods to link some of its popular services together. In October last year, the company allowed users to post their Instagram Stories directly to Facebook. It’s now working on something similar for WhatsApp. The company is testing a new feature that will enable Instagram users to post their Stories directly to WhatsApp.

TechCrunch reports that Facebook is running a test which enables Instagram users to post their Stories directly to WhatsApp as a WhatsApp Status. The Snapchat Story-like feature is called Status on WhatsApp and it’s encrypted like the rest of the messaging app. Instagram Stories that are cross-posted to WhatsApp as a Status become encrypted as well.

“We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you,” a spokesperson for the company confirmed to the scribe.

Facebook is reportedly testing this feature with a small number of users. Users get an option to share their Story to WhatsApp from the Instagram sharing screen. They’re required to press “send” in WhatsApp in order to post it as a Status.

It remains to be seen, though, if the test results are encouraging enough for Facebook to roll out this feature for all users across the globe.
