According to earlier rumors, Xiaomi was said to announce the Mi Mix 2S at MWC 2018, but that no longer seems to be the case. Xiaomi’s global spokesperson Donovan Sung has confirmed on Twitter that the company will be officially unveiling the phone at a separate event on the 27th of March, 2018.

This move doesn’t really come as a surprise, especially when you consider the fact that Samsung has more or less stolen the show with the announcement of the Galaxy S9 and S9+. By creating a separate event, Xiaomi can ensure that they will be able to get the full attention of everyone.

Sung’s announcement on Twitter also seems to confirm the fact that the phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. This is Qualcomm’s current flagship mobile chipset and will most likely power the bulk of 2018’s flagship smartphones, so Xiaomi using it for the Mi Mix 2S hardly comes as a surprise.

Other than that, Sung did not share any other details about the phone, save for what we already know based on the leaks and rumors. This means that if you want to know more, you’ll have to wait until the 27th of March like the rest of us.
