According to a report earlier today, it was suggested that Apple could be launching a (PRODUCT)RED version of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Given that Apple launched something similar for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus last year, we suppose this did not really come as a complete surprise.

For those wondering about it, wonder no more because Apple has since officially announced the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition handsets. In terms of what customers can expect, these are essentially the same phones that were launched last year, except that they are now offered in a very striking red finish.

According to Apple, “A portion of proceeds for all (PRODUCT)RED purchases go directly to Global Fund HIV/AIDS grants that provide testing, counseling, treatment and prevention programs with a specific focus on eliminating transmission of the virus from mothers to their babies.”

As for iPhone X would-be customers, unfortunately there is no iPhone X (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition handset, but there is a special (PRODUCT)RED iPhone X Leather Folio case which we guess could be an alternative. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition will be priced starting at $699 and will be available for pre-order tomorrow with a release set for the 13th of April.
