The Nintendo Switch for the past year or so has been sold the same way, which is that it will come with the console itself, a pair of Joy-Cons, a grip for the Joy-Cons, and a dock that lets you connect the Switch to a TV where you can also charge it. However recently Nintendo announced a new Switch bundle that does away with the dock and where it is also priced cheaper.

Unfortunately it seems that if you were hoping to get your hands on that cheaper bundle and you’re not living in Japan, you’d be out of luck. This is according to a report from USgamer in which Nintendo confirmed that they currently do not have plans to bring this particular configuration to the US.

This is a pity as the difference in price is somewhat substantial. In Japan the regular Nintendo Switch is priced at around $295, while the dockless bundle is being sold at $246, meaning that it is almost a difference of $50. It is possible that maybe Nintendo might have a separate configuration aimed at the US, but for now the recently announced bundle will not be sold in the US.

That being said, this doesn’t mean you can’t head on over to Japan or get someone in Japan to buy it for you if you have to have it. As long as you have a power adapter or a USB-C cable and charger, you should still be good to go.
