Dell cuts Motorola Droid price

Dell has slashed the Motorola Droid (see our review) price to a mere $119 with a 2-year contract with Verizon Wireless. Good news for those who want a Droid and don't mind sticking to the same carrier as this deal also applies to contract extensions. At $119 a pop, it is clearly tempting, especially when Dell will Fedex it to your doorstep for free.

Dell unveils half dozen inkjet all-in-one printers

We have seen all-in-one computers before, with the Wind Top AE2220 being the latest to be unveiled, but what about all-in-one printers? Those aren't too uncommon either, but today is a bit more special as Dell plunges headlong into this arena by announcing half a dozen of such printers. They will feature print speeds of up to 33 pages per minute in monochrome or 25 pages per minute in color, while monochrome copy speeds are touted at 25 pages per minute, with color copies being processed as speedy as 21 pages per minute. W variants would point towards integrated wireless connectivity, although you can always plug in an optional Bluetooth dongle into the USB Pictbridge port. Depending on your preference, prices start from $100 and go all the way to $200 among all six.

Dell includes renewable bamboo in product packaging

Dell takes another step closer to being greener by throwing in renewable bamboo in its product packaging portfolio, being the first in the PC industry to do so. This applies to all Dell Inspiron Mini 10 and Mini 10v netbooks that are shipped from today onwards, where bamboo is used for the product cushions cradling the Mini within an outer box made from 25% post-consumer materials. From early next year onwards, Dell hopes to expand its use of bamboo packaging to a wider range of products. [Press Release]

Dell Streak MID Coming To AT&T?

It seems that some details of Dell’s Streak MID have surfaced. According to the Commercial Times, the Streak will be built by Qisda, and will be released in the US via AT&T in 2010. If the rumors are true, Qisda is not only responsible for the Streak, but several MIDs from Dell, which would certainly clarify why the company were considering multiple screen sizes ranging from 4 to 12 inches. In case you’ve forgotten, the Dell Streak should sport:

  • 5-inch WVGA 800 x 480 display
  • Android 2.0 Donut OS
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth
  • 5-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash
  • microSD card slot

Dell Mini 3i Unboxed Already!

Dell’s Mini 3i Android-powered cell phone wasn’t officially announced too long ago and some folks have already managed to get their hands on one and unboxed it. Good that they’ve been kind enough to upload the pictures online, so that we can see what goodies we’ll be getting. Surprisingly, it seems that Dell decided to ditch the built-in 3.5mm audio jack that is becoming more and more popular nowadays. The saving grace is that there is a miniUSB to 3.5mm headphone adapter cable included in the package. You’ll be getting a stylus that works on the capacitive display. Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you up to date on the Dell Mini 3i and many other items.

Dell Mini 3 Smartphone Goes Official

When the Dell Mini 3 hit the FCC not too long ago, everybody pretty much knew that Dell would be releasing the smartphone sooner rather than later. Of course, FCC report or not, it’s always good to get a nice press release, and that’s just what Dell has done. This Android-powered smartphone will be hitting the shelves in China Mobile later this month, and Brazil’s Claro network (no wonder the device was sighted in Brazil) will get it by the end of the year.

Dell Introduces Its Zino HD

With everybody busy mounting an assault on Apple’s iPhone, it looks like Dell hasn’t ignored Apple’s Mac mini, as can be seen by Dell’s Zino HD. As its name indicates, the Zino HD sports a HD-capable integrated graphics, HDMI output and built-in networking. To be honest, it looks a little like a black color Mac mini, don’t you think? With the starting price of $229, it’s not all that pricey, though the price might go up depending on how you customize it. Specifications include:

  • AMD Athlon processors or dual-core Athlon Neo X2 6850e
  • Up to 8GB DDR2 RAM
  • Up to 1TB hard disk storage
  • Combo drive, with optional Blu-ray option
  • Built-in networking and wireless
  • Optional TV tuner

Windows 7 Upgrade Kit Delays

Windows 7 Upgrade Kit Delays

A few months back, with the imminent release of Windows 7, HP, Dell and other manufacturers were busy telling customers that they would be eligible for a Windows 7 upgrade when it is released, obviously because they wanted to clear off the existing stock. Now it seems that many folks are complaining that they haven’t received their upgrade kits yet, and it’s been more than a week or 2 since Windows 7 was launched. It’s certainly understandable that customers who bought computers eligible for the upgrade to be frustrated, especially since folks who bought computers after the launch would be sporting Windows 7 already. Have you experienced any problems with getting your upgrade kit? Let us know your experiences.

Dell Mini 9 gets accelerometer

Looks like the highly customizable Dell Mini 9 gets another uncertified feather in its cap with news of a mod that involves a built-in accelerometer to enhance the touchscreen-enabled Dell Mini 9. At least you won't have to wait for the rumored Apple Tablet before you have fun with this mod.

Dell Mini 3iX Hits The FCC

Dell Mini 3iX Hits The FCC

You saw a picture of the Dell Mini 3iX over in Brazil a couple of days back, and now the Mini 3iX has taken the time to pay the FCC a visit (and get its approval). Sporting 850/1900 GSM and UMTS bands, the phone will also sport Wi-Fi, a 3.5-inch touchscreen display with 640 x 360 resolution, A-GPS, 3-megapixel camera and also support for Microsoft Exchange. There isn't any mention what version of Android will be bundled on the phone, but we're hoping that it's going to be at least Android 2.0.

Dell Adamo XPS hands-on and final pricing

Dell Adamo XPS hands-on

Dell just announced that its Dell Adamo XPS, a laptop that is only 9.99mm (4/10") thin, will ship this month. The laptop that used to be shown behind closed doors as a "prototype" will now make its debut as a product for this holiday season. You've seen the leaks, the photos, the teasers, and now you're finally getting the real price: Adamo XPS starts at $1799.

Dell has gone through a lot of trouble to design an ultralight that is thinner than the Macbook Air, its direct competitor and the incumbent in this category. The Adamo XPS is indeed thinner, but it has a similar weight (3lbs or so) to the Air. On the other hand, the Air has a faster CPU and graphics processor, plus a longer battery life (Apple claims 5hrs, while Dell claims 2h30 with the standard battery). The Adamo XPS can receive a bigger battery, but I haven't seen what it looks like and I can't imagine that it would be a good thing for the slim line of this laptop. The Adamo XPS has 4GB of memory, versus only 2GB for the Air, and memory can make a big difference, depending on what you do.

Dell Mini 3iX seen in Brazil

Dell Mini 3iX seen in Brazil

Looks like someone managed to catch an image of the Android-powered Dell Mini 3iX smartphone in Brazil, where it looks similar to the China-bound model externally, although internally the Brazil model is superior thanks to Wi-Fi and 3G UMTS/HSDPA connectivity alongside tri-band (850/1900/2100MHz) network support. Still, there isn't any word on pricing or availability of the Dell Mini 3iX, so we'll just have to be patient with this one.

Sprint teams up with Dell

Sprint will be offering a subsidized version of the Dell Mini 10 today, where this little netbook will boast an internal EVDO Revision A modem for 3G access wherever you are, freeing you from being overly reliant on the availability of Wi-Fi networks wherever you are. Otherwise, everything else within ought to remain the same including an Intel Atom 1.33GHz processor, 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive and Windows XP Home. Sprint will offer the Dell Mini 10 for $200, where it will also come with a 2-year agreement with a $60 monthly data plan and after a $100 mail-in rebate.

Dell Latitude XT2 XFR goes rugged

Dell Latitude XT2 XFR goes rugged

Novatel's FCC filing points toward a rugged Dell Latitude XT2 XFR that will probably be the first rugged tablet from the company to date. It will share the same button layout as with the XT2, although this one comes with thick rubber bumpers on the sides to help shield it from shocks or drops, alongside a thicker monitor hinge for that added touch of quality. The trackpad remains accessible even when the XT2 XFR is in tablet mode. No idea on how much this will cost though, but it is nice to see Dell diversifying their range of machines.

Dell SX2210T 21.5-inch multitouch monitor

Dell SX2210T 21.5-inch multitouch monitor

Dell's latest would be the SX2210T 21.5-inch multitouch monitor where it offers all the goodness and glory of multitouch capability without having to purchase an all-in-one computer, making it easier to have a powerful machine with such a modern monitor. This isn't an officially available monitor just yet despite being shown on Dell's site, but we do know that it will come with a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, a speedy 2ms response time, HDMI/DVI-in connectivity and a combination of a webcam and microphone to get you started right out of the box.

Adamo XPS To Have Heat-Sensing Strip

Adamo XPS To Have Heat-Sensing Strip

We’ve shown you picture’s of Dell’s super slim Adamo XPS before this, and now it seems that the $2000 Adamo XPS will sport a heat-sensing strip on the lip which, when swiped with a finger, will glow white and automatically open the aluminum lid. It’s nothing that will help you improve your productivity, but you certainly have to agree that it will make your Adamo XPS look a lot cooler than it already is.

Dell Mini 9 Slate Tablet Mod

Dell Mini 9 Slate Tablet Mod

Kudos to Rob928 for coming up with the first publicized Dell Mini 9 slate tablet mod in the world, where it relied on a Vostro A90, a Honda Fun and Easy touchscreen kit alongside a whole lot of love and patience. This ain't no multi-touch display though, which means you might want to be a bit more careful when using it so as not to carelessly rest your palm on the display. It will also heat up when in use, reaching temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius, so you might want to be a bit more careful there.
