Trust a boat’s name like Electronemo to run on power – and free one to boot. Jan Hamza is the director of the tour company, European Water Transport, making the Electronemo the first first boat powered entirely by solar energy in the Czech Republic. It costs around $149,000 to get the solar boat up and running, where it will boast a couple of suitcase-size electric motors powered by 2.2KW electric batteries. These batteries are fueled by a trio of solar panels, where it can operate up to 10 hours even when there is no sunlight. This boat is an entirely self-funded affair, and Jan hopes to make a much larger boat if the government decides to step in. We know a good thing when we see one, and would love to throw tons of dough at Jan to get a bigger model going.
