StudioDock from Alesis turns your iPad into a music making hub Apple’s devices have always been related to music and now the StudioDock from Alesis brings the iPad even closer to your musical devices. This dock offers your iPad the ports that you’d need to hook up your music instruments with, such as two XLR combo inputs, MIDI in/out (also over USB), 2x stereo ¼ outputs and more. There wasn’t any mention of pricing or availability information, but we’re fairly sure that it won’t come cheap.

While not "invented" by Apple (the newton was arguably a PDA), the iPad has re-ignited the tablet format as it appeared at the right time, with the right hardware and apps. the first iPad was launched on April 2010. It was followed by the iPad 2 in March 2011 and a new iPad (gen 3) in 2012.
