Royal Navy Engineer Officer Challenge

The military seems to be relying a lot on games recently. It was only the other day where they released ACTUV Tactics, a tactical submarine game/crowdsourced simulator for them to collect data about tactics that work and don’t work. Now, they’ve just announced the release of a new game aimed to recruit undergraduates to the Royal Navy.

Called Royal Navy Engineer Officer Challenge, this app is designed to employ undergraduates to work as Weapon, Marine and Air Engineer Officers in the Royal Navy. Available for iOS devices and on Facebook, Royal Navy Engineer Officer Challenge dishes out challenges to would-be recruits interested in joining the Royal Navy. The challenges consist of decision-making skills when under pressure, in a virtual Royal Navy Type 45 Destroyer. Touted to be a tough-as-nails challenge, it is supposed to give players a taste of the real thing.

In addition to being a challenging game, the app also explains the benefits of becoming an Officer and even lets them contact the Royal Navy directly for more in-depth career information or request a call-back. For folks who just want to have fun without bothering to join the Navy, there’s the ability to share scores on Facebook for bragging rights.

The Royal Navy Engineer Officer Challenge is available now for download on the App Store or playable through the official Facebook page.
