Google has officially announced the release of the latest version of Google Maps for Android. Bringing the app up to version 5.5, Google Maps now adds the “check in” and “rate and review” buttons to the Places page to make it more convenient to check in and rate something. Other features include the option to edit your home/work address for Latitude and redesigned transit station that make life easier when you’re taking the bus or train to get around.
Google Maps 5.5 is available now and it’s free, just head over to the Android Market to download the app for your phone. Android 1.6 or higher is required for it to work. Find out more at the official Google mobile blog.
