The grappling hook has proved to be one of the more interesting and useful tools back in the days of Team Fortress as well as Shogo – and we all know that ninjas who disappear in a puff of smoke also use the grappling hook to great effect in being menacing and mysterious. Well, what about ordinary mortals like you and I who do not have ninja-like skills? We can still own a grappling hook – by making one, of course.
MIT student Christian Reed decided to use his spare time to cobble together a grappling hook gun that uses an empty fire extinguisher in addition to other equipment to turn you into an instant ninja – now all you need to find is a smoke bomb and some black cloth to wrap yourself with and you’re good to go.
The only downsides to this invention? It is ear-blowingly loud – and won’t be able to fire as far as you thought it would in the first place. It might take some time before you learn to compensate for the accuracy (or rather, the lack of it) with this, but it is still an interesting invention you might want to look at for a weekend project.
