Laptop keyboards are hardly the best keyboards to type on. They are functional, no doubt about that, but it just doesn’t compare to a proper keyboard, but we suppose that’s one of the trade-offs to being able to carry your computer around with you. However, that doesn’t mean that we can’t improve on it, right?

YouTuber Squashy Boy decided that the keyboard in his MacBook Pro could use some upgrading, so he embarked on a DIY journey where he essentially ripped out of the MacBook Pro’s old keyboard and stuffed it with a custom mechanical keyboard. It is hardly the most elegant of DIY projects we’ve seen, but it is hilarious.

In order to make the mechanical keyboard fit, he basically had to remove the old keyboard and also saw off the plate. He also chose to use a wireless keyboard to make it easier to pair and connect with the laptop, and to hold the keyboard in place, based on the video it looks like he used a hot glue gun (yikes!).

The end result is a frankenstein laptop, dubbed the “Mechbook”, which can now never be closed, but hey, at least the typing experience will be much better now! If you have a few minutes to spare, you’ll definitely want to check out his video above.
