LG has come to an agreement to deliver Capcom’s Street Fighter IV beat ’em up on their first HD Android smartphone on an exclusive basis, and just in case you were living under the rock for the longest time and have not heard of the Street Fighter franchise, bear in mind that there have been millions of copies of the franchise sold across numerous consoles, but it has not appeared on the Android platform just yet – until now, at least. Expect Street Fighter IV to debut on LG’s global apps site sometime in Q4 this year.

Guess having a mini joystick on your Android smartphone does not sound so silly after all, no? It is time to start practicing those quarter circles and time your hits while anticipating just where to block. Make sure you have a hanky ready to wipe your touchscreen display frequently when this title hits the market – I think it is going to be huge!

Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company had this to say, “We are honored to be able to bring one of the most popular fighting games of all time into the Android ecosystem. As we prepare our first HD smartphone for launch, it was important for us to be able to offer HD content that would really demonstrate this phone’s benefits. The HD version of Street Fighter certainly fills this objective. We are also confident that LG’s soon-to-be-unveiled HD display technology will give Street Fighter fans a whole new reason to play the game again.” [Press Relaese]
