If you happen to reside in the UK and are rockin’ to an Android-powered device, here is a little bit of good news that might just cheer you up in case you are looking for some form of entertainment. Google has just announced the availability of their film rental service for the Android platform in the UK, targeting both phone and tablet users. This movie rental service is made available over at the Android Market, with prices starting from £2.49 upwards.

Of course, those of us living Stateside already enjoy such a service, and British users can access around 1,000 titles for starters. Google seems to be taking quite an interest across the pond, having just launched its UK eBook store, while rolling out film rentals over at its video site YouTube.

If you are an Android user, you will need to install the Video app in order to watch such films, where most of the titles will last for 30 days after purchase before they “expire”, and once you have started watching the film, you have 48 hours to finish it. Are you excited at this nugget of information?
