Windows Phone market shareWe know that Nokia has been selling a lot of Windows Phone devices, but how many has it been selling compared to other manufacturers? Well, according to the game collection data from OccasionalGamer (which has its games installed over a million times on various Windows Phone devices) – 45% of second generation Windows Phone devices (those released with Mango onboard) belong to Nokia. A pretty impressive percentage, seeing how Nokia wasn’t around for the first generation of WP phones and only came onboard with Mango.

However when you take into account all Windows Phone devices – Nokia only owns 4% of the market, while HTC dominates it at 55% (it only has 40% when it comes to second gen devices). Samsung is at second place with 28% and LG at third with 12%. With Nokia kickstarting the wave of 3rd gen phones with its LTE-enabled Lumia 900 (alongside HTC’s TITAN 2), it wouldn’t be surprising if the Finnish takes the pole position as well. Assuming OccasionalGamer’s data is close to the actual figures, this is pretty good news for Nokia; though we know that Windows Phone still has a long way to go if it intends to catch up with or overtake iOS and Android.
