Let’s face it – we all type differently on our tablets. Some of us with smaller hands can probably type on the tablet with all ten fingers, while some of us with larger and meatier fingers will have to rely on jabbing at the on-screen keyboard one virtual letter at a time. Looking to offer 10 fingered typing on the iPad, a new app called TypeWay has been launched that supposedly offers iPad users an adaptive on-screen keyboard.

As the screenshot above might indicate, the TypeWay features an adaptive keyboard that shifts according to the user’s typing habits. The app reportedly takes into account hand sizes and hand positions used commonly, and based on that information will shift the keyboard into a position that the app thinks will be a best fit for the user. When you’re satisfied with how TypeWay has laid out your keyboard, users will have the option of “freezing” the app to prevent further changes.

Granted the end results of the layout isn’t the most pretty, neat or symmetrical, but if you’re looking to get some productivity done on your iPad, perhaps TypeWay will be able to help you achieve that. We haven’t actually tried the app out for ourselves yet, but if you’re willing to give TypeWay a shot, it is currently available on the iTunes App Store for $5.99. If you’ve tried the app, we’d love to hear what you thought of it and if it is really as useful as it is made out to be.
