The new iPad was launched to much aplomb, and even selling 3 million units in just four days – which leads me to wonder just whether the next generation iPad (whenever it rolls out) will be able break that record or not. Having said that, this translates to an extremely large pool of hardware for third party accessories manufacturers to work with, so it is no surprise to see the new iPad receive what is touted to be the “world’s thinnest” new iPad enclosure from Maclocks. Originally developed and designed in clear and black for the first generation iPad, it was later updated for the iPad 2. However, there is a new black version made of flexible polymer that fits the new iPad like a glove, adding a mere 1mm to the external diameter of the iPad, hence enabling it to make such a lofty claim.

According to Alexander Gad, Maclocks GM, “This is great news for Maclocks fans, as the iPad3 enclosure is now ready for immediate shipping. Our designers are working on new security solutions for iPad3, but we were happy to discover that the black security enclosure fits the new iPad. With millions of dollars worth of tablets being stolen each day, it was so important to have a valid iPad security solution for the iPad3. Maclocks was the first to invent a lockable cover for iPad1 and we continue to lead the market. Innovation and fast action is our commitment to Maclocks clients.” Would you be picking up a $69.95 new iPad enclosure from Maclock? [Press Release]
