Rumors are circulating claiming that this year’s iPhone will feature a display of at least 4” in size. Sure, we heard that last year but given that the iPhone 4S was pretty much identical to the iPhone 4, many are expecting that 2012’s iPhone will feature an entirely new design. So how would a 4” iPhone look like? We’ve seen one mockup before that pretty much kept the dimensions of the device except that it made the display longer. It wasn’t the best mockup we’ve seen before but its designer was trying to make a point of how the iPhone could feature a 4” display but yet not interfere with the way apps are displayed. This latest mockup from apfelpage.de tells a whole different story.

As you can see, this mockup of a 4” iPhone is much slimmer and sleeker and features a touch sensitive home button that many believed last year’s iPhone would incorporate. It also shows off the use of widgets that some iOS users believe that Apple should introduce to the iOS platform much like Android, along with an edge-to-edge display. We have to admit that this mockup looks pretty good and fits in with the theory of a thinner iPhone if Apple were to turn to in-cell display technology. What do you guys think?
