With China on the rise, safe to say there are many companies looking to break into the market. Microsoft is one of them and they have since launched their Windows Phone platform, along with the accompanying hardware, back in March. Given that Windows Phone does not have that big a marketshare that iOS and Android has in the US market, how will they fare in China? Well according to Microsoft’s COO of Greater China Region, Michel van der Bel, it would look as though the company has managed to capture 7% marketshare in the two months since it launched, which we have to admit is pretty impressive. On top of that, it supposedly narrowly edged out the ever popular iPhone which is reportedly sitting at 6%. Of course we expect those numbers to change if China Mobile’s talks with Apple are successful, which could see the official launch of the iPhone on the world’s largest carrier who boasts about 650 million subscribers.
