Nokia has teamed up with famed audio company JBL to come up with a tantalizing array of audio accessories, where the first fruits of the collaboration has resulted in the JBL PlayUp Portable Wireless Speaker. This new pair of speakers will definitely conjure up memories of the NFC-enabled Nokia Play 360° portable speakers that were released sometime last year. Sporting bright colors in a cylindrical design, the JBL PlayUp Portable Wireless Speaker will feature double-shot plastic that certainly adds that element of added durability to the overall design. After all, if a speaker is meant to be portable, we should not have to worry about it cracking or breaking like a set of fine china, should we?

Underneath the hood, JBL’s expertise in audio know-how comes into play, where it boasts of a maximum output of 89dB, making it ideal to share your favorite tunes with those around, whether it be an open space or right there in your living room. There should also be no issue at all concerning the relatively diminutive size of this speaker, since it comes with a specially designed bass port that functions as a woofer.

Needless to say, the JBL PlayUp Portable Wireless Speaker was created to complement current and upcoming Nokia Lumia smartphones, although it will play nice with other Bluetooth-enabled devices to boot. Future NFC-enabled Windows Phone 8-powered Lumias will be able to take advantage of the tap-to-connect feature for that added touch of convenience, no pun intended. A rechargeable battery within allows it to last for up to 10 hours, where it can also be powered via an AC adapter. You can choose from cyan, white, black and bright yellow colors, where it will cost in the region of €149 as it ships out before the year is over.
