Motorola has been in the news quite a lot recently. That’s because the company is going to unveil its latest Android flagship smartphone on August 1st. The company is wholly owned by Google, which has made waves in the wearable tech industry with the Google Glass. It appears that Motorola is going to make its very own design group to work on wearable gadgets, this according to a latest job posting at the company for a “Senior Director of Industrial Design.”
Candidates for this job must have over 15 years of experience and must be able to :architect a design plan for leadership in the area of wearable technologies.” Motorola tested the wearable technology waters back in 2011 with the MOTOACTV wrist-based fitness computer, but the product failed to gain enough traction in the market. It remains to be seen what products will come out of Motorola’s yet to be formed wearable technology group. Perhaps it would work on a smartwatch as well, like Apple and Microsoft reportedly are. One thing is for sure though, we’ll be seeing quite a lot of interesting wearable gadgets in the near future.
