sortie-gta-v_1273563.0_cinema_720.0There seems to be a bit of controversy surrounding the launch of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5, with gamers pretending to be cops just to cut the line, fake cocaine, and even a real-life criminal case where a man was stabbed before being robbed of his copy of Grand Theft Auto 5! If you’re a believer in the mantra of, “there’s no such thing as bad publicity”, over in France it seems that an attempt to hype up the launch of the game and keep in the theme of GTA, two Micromania employees in Montargis, a town south of Paris, decided to dress up like thugs complete with face masks and toy guns.

For those who don’t play the game, we guess it can be easily misconstrued that the two “thugs” were up to no good, which is what a passerby did and alerted the police. About 15 police officers showed up with submachine guns, but thankfully no one was hurt in the process. According to an officer, the situation could have ended badly and we can’t help but agree. Either way all of this is drawing attention to the game which has since managed go on and make an astounding $800 million within 24 hours of going on sale. We can only imagine as time passes just how much more the developers will be able to rake in!
