bbm-ios-hedJust yesterday BlackBerry revealed that BBM for iOS and Android had been downloaded about 5 million times in a matter of hours since it was re-released to the public. Well it looks like in 24 hours, BlackBerry has managed to double that amount as BlackBerry has recently announced that the app had managed to see 10 million downloads to date. Of course this hardly means that there are 10 million iOS and Android users out there sending each other text messages via BBM, but rather it’s merely an indication of how many times the app has been downloaded.

As it stands there is a queue if you wish to use BBM for iOS and Android. This was put in place by BlackBerry to prevent their servers from overloading and users who wish to use the app will have to sign up and be placed in a queue, whereby BlackBerry will notify users when they are able to proceed with the registration for the app. There’s no word on how long users will have to queue for and it could be hours, days, or maybe even weeks until your turn is reached, so you should probably signup with your email address ASAP, even if you don’t plan on using the app anytime soon. Any of our readers manage to start using the app yet?
