snap2chat-zrcIf there’s a downside to using the BlackBerry 10 platform is that there aren’t many apps for the operating system compared to the likes of iOS and Android, and most developers tend to give the platform a pass due to its relatively smaller user base. In any case it seems that the BlackBerry community has been rallying behind the platform by releasing apps themselves and providing users with third-party alternatives to apps that were previously unavailable for the platform. We have seen this with Instagram and now it looks like there will be a third-party alternative to Snapchat.

Dubbed Snap2Chat, this is a BlackBerry 10 alternative to Snapchat that is being developed by Nem0ry, the same developer behind the likes of DroidStore. As it stands the app is currently in beta and can be downloaded, although BlackBerry users will have to side-load it onto their handsets themselves, so if you’re not too familiar with side-loading apps, you’ll want to do a bit of homework first before proceeding. In the meantime for those who would rather not side-load, you can expect this app to arrive come 2014.
